tsp
[tsp] means a teaspoon, which is roughly a 5 ml(about 1/6 fl oz) portion.
tbsp
[tbsp] means a tablespoon, which is roughly a 15 ml(roughly 1/2 fl oz) portion.
g
[g] denotes weight, 100g is roughly 3.5 oz.
Shumai skin
Shumai skin is made by kneading flour, salt, vegetable oil and water, stretching it thinly to about 1 mm or thinner, and shaping it into a square.
1.Cut vegetable
Chop the store-bought kimchi into small pieces with a knife.
2.Grate
Grate the ginger.
3.Put in
Put the finely chopped kimchi and ginger juice into a bowl.
4.Put in
Put the minced pork in a bowl.
5.Put in
Put potato starch and sugar in a bowl.
6.Stir
Knead the mixture well until it becomes sticky so that everything is mixed together.
7.Make shape
Place the mixture meat on the shumai skin and wrap.
*It's easier to wrap if you make a ring with your fingers and place the shumai skin on it.
8.Steam
Bring the water in the steamer to a boil over high heat. Once it boils,turn off the heat and put the shumai on a paper towel or similar in the steamer.
9.Steam
Once you've finished place on the Shumai,place a clean dish towel on top of the steamer and cover it with lid. Steam over medium heat for about 5 to 10 minutes and it's done.
Tips
Once the shumai are steamed,cut them in half to check if they are cooked through.
