Shiso leaves
Shiso is a typical Japanese herb, a leaf similar to but different from Perilla(often used Korean food), with a unique flavor. Shiso has both red and green leaves, When shiso without specified no color means green shiso in Japan.
1.Pre-boil
Green asparagus is tough at the base,so pre-boil it to soften it.
2.Wrap vegetable
Wrap shiso leaf around the center of the green asparagus.
3.Roll meat
Wrap bacon around the shiso leaf wrapped green asparagus in a spiral shape.
4.Batter
To fry the asparagus,coat the asparagus with the batter. Be careful not to unwrap the bacon at this point.
5.Deep fry
Deep fry at about 180 degrees Celsius. Remove when lightly browned and floating on the surface of the oil.
6.Drain off
After frying,drain the oil and cut the green asparagus into bite-size pieces.
